2006 SushiMasters Competition
SACRAMENTO,
Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- SushiMasters
is a premiere event for the foodservice industry.
It is the only statewide sushi competition in
the U.S. that features professional sushi chefs
demonstrating their quality and artistry in preparing
traditional and innovative sushi.
SushiMasters celebrates the tradition and innovation
of sushi cuisine in the United States since its
introduction only forty years ago. This
year's event features a live sushi competition
among California's top sushi chefs and an awards
presentation to internationally-renowned Chef
Nobu Matsuhisa for over 500 influential food experts,
opinion leaders and others.
Competing chefs will be judged in three categories:
morikomi (traditional sushi combination plate),
signature roll and Governor's roll. All
sushi created by the chefs will be automatically
submitted for the Best of Show category, and the
overall winner will be named as the 2006 SushiMaster.
Chefs currently owning or working in a California
restaurant are eligible to enter the 2006 SushiMasters
competition. Qualified chefs must also possess
a minimum of three years of experience in sushi
preparation at an established restaurant. Guidelines
and entry forms are available at www.sushimasters.com/competition.htm.
Entries must be received by May 15, 2006.
Part of the proceeds from the event will provide
scholarships for future chefs and will benefit
cultural programs at the Japanese American National
Museum.
